Vintage Linens and Lace Ideas

If you have been reading my blog very long, you know I have a real thing for vintage lace and linens.

Any time I find them at garage sales and/or estate sales, I just can't help myself.

So, as my collection has grown and grown and grown, I thought I would give you some ideas of what all I use them for, OK?

This banner/garland was made out of linen and trimmed with old lace and buttons.

I made this window covering out of all sizes and kinds of lace and doilies.  I needed the light but wanted it covered a little bit

I use my vintage Christmas tablecloths on a ladder for the holidays.

I covered this folding screen with an old quilt.  There were places it was really worn out and I sewed various doilies on top of those places.

I made this settee out of an antique baby bed using a vintage red rose tablecloth for the dust ruffle and the center pillow.

This memory frame was made in honor of my Nana - my Mother's Mom.  I used a hankerchief that was hers, a photo of she and my son and attached her watch that I had.  Sweet memories.

This table runner was a old Christmas tablecloth.

One of my all time favorites is the wreath completely covered in vintage red and white crocheted potholders.

I also did one in colored potholders.

At Easter, I made Easter eggs out of vintage quilt pieces.  I very seldom cut up a good quilt.  I buy a lot that have holes or stains and cut out around that.

I also did a lace encrusted bunny!

Burlap Christmas stocking trimmed with old hankerchief.

A wall hanging with pockets and trimmed with old lace and doilies.

These are some of my vintage hankerchiefs that I put on an old spoon rack I had painted red.

And then there are pillows...

One of my memory pillows...

The little stuffed heart on this pillow was from an old hankerchief.

and then, last but certainly not least, is Miss Begonia.

Hope you enjoyed some of my ideas of what all I do with my hoard of vintage trims.

Judy

And your display of Christmas tablecloths is so much better than only bringing them out one at a time for the table. I enjoyed seeing all the uses you've found for your treasures!

  13. Beautiful and ingenious every one of them! You are so talented and creative. I too cannot pass by vintage lace or doilies or trim.. but the trouble is, I can never get myself to cut into them! so there they lay.. not used. I'm saving some of your ideas, for the day when maybe I can take that pair of scissors and cut off a snippet here and there..... I love your memory pillow and Miss Begonia. Also, the wreaths made with the old potholders remind me of my mom. she saved those types of potholders as she collected them, and they all hung on a little cup rack in one of her bedrooms. The wreaths are so pretty! Thank you so much for getting me inspired! Marilyn
